ABOUT ME
HI AGAIN, I'M UNA.
Not Uma, no matter what my arch nemesis Thurman would have you believe. I'm a humor writer and YA author. I've published four young adult novels, Five Summers, Like No Other, Don't Fail Me Now, and You in Five Acts, as well as a comic essay collection, Unabrow, which is based on some of my more questionable life choices (and, yes, a very real, extremely impressive unibrow that has clearly formed the basis for my entire self-image).
In addition to being an author, I'm also a journalist and an erstwhile award-winning blogger. I was a magazine and newspaper editor until I had kids and decided to throw away a stable income and health insurance for the roller coaster ride of freelancing! Please do not ask me about my retirement plans.
My writing has appeared in The New York Times, The New York Observer, Allure, and Parents, and online at McSweeney's Internet Tendency, The Huffington Post, Scary Mommy, and Cup of Jo, among others.
I live in Brooklyn, New York with my husband, two sons, and neurotic rescue dog. Usually you can find me curled up in my nest of chocolate-glazed mini donuts and wearing one of the 500 novelty shirts I've recently purchased on Etsy. If you read one of my books, somewhere up in heaven, a dance circle will form and an angel will do a flawless Running Man.
